April 25, 2004 - The Fire - Philadelphia, PA

Woke up at 10:50 a.m. and went on the computer. Considered going back to sleep. Stayed awake. Watched a Bob Dylan 1965 tour video and then got some food at a Polish restaurant, Raymunds, sausage and potatoes and pieroges. Got an ice cream afterwards, a flavor called "Sneakers" that is vanilla with Snickers bits in it. I'm not sure where the day went. At 6 Chris W. came to pick us up and accidentally drove onto the Williamsburg bridge as we went to pick up Chris Groves. We returned to Brooklyn over the bridge and are now en route to Philadelphia. It's very cold outside.

We missed Philadelphia somehow because the 95 goes two ways, and we took the way to Delaware. When we saw the "Welcome to Delaware" sign we realized this. Still, we got to the club in all right time, met up with Matt and Evan, and hung out while Fooled by April played. Chris W. went to a nearby ribs place for some dinner and he was mugged while waiting for his ribs to be prepared, but it was an unusual mugging. He gave the mugger, who he described as looking like the guy with the pointy sideburns from The Backstreet Boys, AJ McClean, took $40 from Chris, he paused, asked him, "Have you already paid for your ribs?" When Chris said no, the mugger gave him $10. Chris was safe, confused, and the ribs weren't good. He took it all in stride. After us The New Motels played and they were really cool'I watched them from the bar where I was talking with Derek, the booker, as the stage was broadcast via two TVs into the bar. We stayed the night at Matt's, a house like the ones they have in Hull I thought, with steep stairs.
